This source has been very useful for me as this was the article that first introduces me to the fact that birth control was accessible in Canada as early as 1957 for “menstrual irregularities” but not supposed to be used as contraceptives. This article also includes some of the many great arguments carried out against the legalization of birth control including: women need to discover self-control before birth control, and “the pill made women unfeminine” (1) giving me a lot of contrasting arguments I can use for both my presentation and hopefully my research paper. The end of the article has a segment dedicated to how “Men’s lives changed” due to the introduction of the birth control pill, I found this very interesting and I hope I can find more information regarding how men felt this social change impacted their lives.
